I am a complete beginner... How many lessons should I have to get me going?
The rate of progression is relative to the individual's physical abilities, fitness level, transferrable skills and prevailing sea conditions at the time. We normally recommend 2-3 lessons as a good foundation for learning to surf at your own pace, and with sufficient knowledge of technique and safety (within waist-chest deep water).

I would like to give it a go, but not sure if I should commit to a course of lessons until I know if I like it?
No problem, we are entirely flexible and will not penalise you for deciding to take it on a lesson by lesson basis. Our price structure follows the same discount pattern whether you book a course up front, or book on a lesson by lesson basis (provided the lessons are held within a few days of each other). However, it is always worth provisionally booking the course/days that you intend to have lessons on, so that we can secure the places for you. We will be happy to make adjustments after the initial lesson where we can, and if necessary.

I have my own equipment, can I use them for my lesson?
Yes, you may use your own equipment, as long as they are considered suitable for use and relevant to your experience level. Your instructor will provide you with the best advice as to their suitability... We may assess your ability on one of our own soft surfboards, at least for (part of) the initial lesson or if conditions dictate. If your equipment is thought to be less than suitable, then we will provide you with some at no cost.

Will lessons still be held in bad weather?
Yes, as long as sea conditions are suitable for the ages and abilities of the participants. If we expect conditions to be unsuitable on any given day, we will endeavour to contact you ahead of time, where possible, to reschedule to a more suitale day/time. If you feel you would like to move a lesson to another day, just contact us and we will try to accommodate you as best we can!

Do I need to pre-book, or can I just turn up and join a lesson?
We would always recommend that you pre-book your lessons, particularly to secure the days and/times that you would prefer. Although we can often cater for bookings on a 'walk-in' basis during summer, we can get pretty busy, so at least a day or two's notice would be worthwhile.
In the case of large families or general groups, pre-booking is essential so that we can prepare accordingly. Deposits are fully refundable with reasonable cancellation notice.
